Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules
This is the second book in the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" Series. This book calls back to the first book that ended with Greg being worried that he still had the cheese touch. I enjoy this book a lot because I usually can see myself in the story. I really like the part where Greg and Rodrick throw a party while their parents are gone and they have to keep it a secret. Someone at the party writes "Rodrick Rules" on the bathroom door and they have to switch the door out for one in the basement. The only catch is that the new door doesn't have a lock. Greg and Rodrick have to lie and make sure to swear silence about it. Deny Deny Deny.Greg finally cracks and tells his mom that they had a party but doesn't want his mom to tell on him because since the party he and Rodrick have been getting along better. I liked this moment of the book because it was such a real moment. I think of my brother and I and how this would be something we would do! I like how Jeff Kinney writes these books because they are easy to follow and so funny! I think it shows just how impressive these books were because they had both of his first books made into movies! Overall I would encourage anyone that want something interesting to read, to read this book! I like how it shows how Greg grows as a brother and as a friend. This is something that any kid could relate to as they grow up and get through middle school!
I reread these book and honestly, I forgot how great they were. The movie remakes were very good but there is so much more detail to the story when you read the book. And the illustrations in the book are so funny!
